At Beach Eye Medical Group, we are proud to be the first in Orange County and the only one in Huntington Beach to offer the next-generation Light Adjustable Lens Delivery Device from RxSight, a revolutionary solution for optimal vision correction post-cataract surgery.
The Light Adjustable Lens (LAL®) is a breakthrough cataract lens that allows your vision to be customized after surgery, rather than locking in your prescription beforehand. Using gentle, non-invasive UV light treatments, your surgeon can fine-tune the lens power over several weeks until your vision meets your exact needs. This means greater accuracy, fewer surprises, and a much lower chance of needing glasses afterward.
Beach Eye Medical Group is the first in Orange County and the only provider in Huntington Beach to offer the newest RxSight Light Delivery Device, giving patients access to the most advanced version of this technology.
The Light Adjustable Lens (LAL®) from RxSight is a groundbreaking technology designed to help patients achieve their best possible vision after cataract surgery. Made of a unique photosensitive material, the LAL® allows for adjustments to be made to the lens after it has been implanted in the eye. This ensures a level of customization and precision that was previously unattainable with traditional light adjustable lenses.
After the cataract surgery and once your eye has healed, you will undergo a series of light treatments delivered by the RxSight® Light Delivery Device (LDD®)1 in our office. These treatments are non-invasive and are crucial in fine-tuning your vision to perfection. The light adjustable lenses2 respond to ultraviolet (UV) light, allowing us to make adjustments to the shape and power of the lens, ensuring that your vision is tailored to your specific needs.
Post-surgery3, it is vital to follow all the instructions provided by our expert team, including wearing the UV-blocking glasses provided to you. These glasses are essential as they protect the lens from any UV light sources other than the LDD®, ensuring that the adjustments are precise and controlled.
You may notice that your vision is not perfect immediately after surgery, but worry not. Over the following weeks, we will work closely with you, optimizing your vision through a series of light treatments until you are satisfied with the results.
It is suitable for a wide range of patients, but it is particularly beneficial for those who have undergone cataract surgery4 and are looking to achieve the best possible visual outcome. Our ideal candidates:

No. Cataract surgery is performed with numbing drops, and the Light Adjustable Lens itself does not cause pain. The light treatments used to adjust the lens afterward are painless and non-invasive. Most patients describe them as feeling similar to having their eyes examined under a bright light.
The light adjustment sessions are quick and gentle. You sit in front of the RxSight device while controlled UV light reshapes the lens. There is no heat, no cutting, and no contact with the eye.
Most patients wear the special UV-blocking glasses for about 3 to 4 weeks after surgery. This protects the lens from unintended UV exposure until the final “lock-in” treatment is completed.
Yes. You can go outside, run errands, and live normally as long as you are wearing the protective glasses.
Light Adjustable Lenses are considered a premium cataract lens, which means they are not fully covered by insurance or Medicare. Pricing varies based on your vision needs and treatment plan. At Beach Eye Medical Group costs are reviewed and discussed in detail during your consultation. We also have various payment and financing options available.
Medicare typically covers the cataract surgery portion, but not the premium lens or light-adjustment technology. Patients pay the difference for the advanced lens.
Once the lens is locked in, the results are permanent. The Light Adjustable Lens does not wear out or lose its correction over time.
Yes. The lens can be adjusted to correct astigmatism and other refractive errors after surgery, often reducing or eliminating the need for glasses.
For patients who want maximum clarity and accuracy, many surgeons prefer LAL because it allows adjustments after surgery, something multifocal lenses cannot do. This significantly reduces the chance of unwanted visual side effects.
Most patients reach their final customized vision within 3–5 weeks after surgery, once all light adjustments and the lock-in treatment are completed.
Yes. Most patients choose to have LAL implanted in both eyes for balanced, high-precision vision.
